Solvang acquires three VLGCs from Vitol

Solvang Gas Carriers AS is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement to purchase three 2019‑built VLGCs from Vitol subsidiaries, with delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2026: Clipper Voyager, Clipper Valiant, and Clipper Viking.

The vessels included in the transaction are the Clipper Viking (80,500 cbm), Clipper Valiant (84,200 cbm), and Clipper Voyager (84,200 cbm). All three vessels will be time‑chartered back to Vitol International Shipping.

Following this acquisition, the Solvang Gas Carriers AS fleet comprises 16 VLGCs – 12 of which are Panamax vessels – once the seven vessels currently on order are delivered between March 2026 and February 2027.

Fleet down 22 percent on emissions – up 21 percent on capacity

Since 2009, Solvang’s gas carrier tonnage has grown by 15 percent in terms of DWT, and by 21.4 percent in cargo capacity. In the same period, GHG emissions have been reduced by 21.5 percent, all due to exhaust gas recirculation and cleaning, hull, propeller and drivetrain optimization, and continuous operational improvements.

Highlights 2023: Massive ECO upgrades during dry-dockings

11 vessels were dry-docked due to scheduled classing and certification during 2023. All vessels achieved EEXI certification after installing EPL (engine power limitation), sandblasting and hull anti-fouling treatment, Mewis Ducts installed (9 vessels), as well as full drivetrain optimization on four of the vessels.
